‘Monga’ eliminated during reign of Sheikh Hasina: Nasim

RANGPUR : Coordinator of the ruling 14-party alliance and Health Minister Mohammed Nasim said here tonight the decades-old “monga” was eliminated permanently during the time in power of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“In the past, there was ‘monga’ in the northern region where the common people have been leading better life now—– it has became possible for Sheikh Hasina,” Nasim said.

Nasim, also Awami League (AL) presidium member, was addressing a function arranged by the 14-party alliance to distribute warm clothes among cold-hit people at Khedmatpur High School ground under Pirganj upazila here as the chief guest.

Nasim said the leaders of the 14-party alliance came to Pirganj as per direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina not for seeking votes, but for distributing warm clothes for standing beside the clod-affected people to m mitigate their sufferings.

“There was a time when there was no electricity in the rural areas. But, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been reaching electricity to the every doorstep in the country,” he said.

He said that the militants brutally killed 23 innocent people, including foreigners, at Gulshan and members of the law enforme3nt agencies sacrificed their lives at Gulshan and Sholakia while resisting militancy.

“The Present government led by Sheikh Hasina has successfully combated militancy through uniting the Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists and the people of all other faiths,” Nasim said.

Nasim blamed Khaleda Zia’s BNP and Jamaat for creating militancy, Bangla Bhai, Shayokh Abdur Rahman saying that Sheikh Hasina never forgave people of her own party for misdeeds and even sacked one cabinet member for wrong talking about religion.

“Sajeeb Wazed Joy, talented son of Sheikh Hasina, has introduced Bangladesh in the world arena through digitisation, the country is marching forward under leadership of Sheikh Hasina and the global rich countries are now with Bangladesh,” Nasim said.

“Khaleda Zia missed the train through not participating in the January 5 lections —– The next general elections will be held in 2019 under Sheikh Hasina — She (Khaleda) would again commit the same mistake if not takes part in the next elections,” he said.

Nasima said that the World Bank illegally stopped financing for the Padma Bridge and Bangabandhu’s courageous daughter Sheikh Hasina started its construction at own resources.

“The present government has resolved the decades-old enclave problem and Bangladesh has been advancing fast toward a middle income nation by 2021 on its way to biome a developed nation by 2041,” Nasim said.

With Vice-president of Rangpur district AL Chhayadat Hossain Bakul in the chair, General Secretary of Pirganj upazila AL Tazimul Islam Shamim moderated the function.
