Blood, tears, toil created Bangladesh: Inu

DHAKA : Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said here today that the land and water of Bangladesh is written in the blood of martyrs, the sound of gun fire and the voice of a persecuted people.

The minister in his 40-minute speech elaborated the ancient history of the land and its valiant struggle against injustice and freedom to 500 young children at the BAF Shaheen School today.

The programme “Listen to the History of Freedom” was organized by
“Amra Manush Foundation” and was chaired by the principal of the school Group Captain Ahsan.

The minister, also a valiant freedom fighter, said that the country’s liberation was attained by the great leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He also said that millions of martyrs, the cries of the many more who were persecuted and the women that were tortured created the tapestry that is independent Bangladesh. He paid his tributes to all those who had sacrificed for the freedom of the motherland.

Inu told the students there were people against us also during the Liberation War. Some criminals had dared to betray the nation and collaborated with the Occupying Pakistani forces.

He said that these collaborators were the ones who had now turned militants. He asked the children to hate them and also refuse the allure of drugs.

“Learn to respect your parents and teachers and groom yourself up for a bright future only then will the sacrifice of millions be realized,” he said.

The function was initiated by raising the national flag at the school ground by the minister.

Among others, Rashek Rahman, the organizer of the function, Ali Hasan Alam, Managing Director of PRAN Group and other eminent citizens also spoke on the occasion.
